Joining a Volunteer Team

We want to make it easy for you to show interest in serving on a team. This form will update occasionally with serving opportunities and needs. If you are interested in joining a volunteer team, please fill out the form below. (If you are already on that team, there is no need to choose it as an option.) It's best to select only 1-2 teams so that we are more easily able to connect you with the team leader.

Sunday Ministry Teams

The teams listed here are for ways you can serve on a Sunday. They are listed in order of priority of need right now.

We have three roles within our CrossingKIDS Team. Each of these roles require a background check and security training.

The Lead Teacher takes primary responsibility to teach the classrooms lessons (curriculum and activities provided ahead of time by our staff!) They help provide consistency for the kids, connection with the parents, and direction for the classroom helpers. Many of our lead teachers serve weekly for a six month commitment, but if serving on a rotation works best for you, we can make it work!

The Classroom Helper is perfect for someone who wants to be involved in children's ministry but may be less comfortable having the responsibility to lead a lesson. The helper will serve on a rotation of once or twice per month and their primary role in the class is building relationships with kids, helping kids as they need, and helping the teacher as they need.

Our third role is the Check-in Team. This is one of our most hospitable roles, so we need bright and warm welcoming personalities who are excited to help new families feel welcome. This role helps families check into our online system and walks new families to their room. They really need to be an expert in our kids ministry.

If you are interested in one of these, please indicate which of them you would like to learn more about?

This team exists to help us celebrate the grace of God through memories created through photos. Each week we have volunteers take photos during the services, as well as during church-wide events (church birthday, MC Olympics, Encounter service). Volunteers should be proficient at using a Canon DSLR or their own DSLR, able to be in position to take high quality photos but also without being a distraction.

This team exists to welcome members and guests. We need bright and warm personalities to proactively help newcomers feel welcome. This team is one of our most seen teams on a Sunday because of their positions in the building to greet guests. Volunteers should be able/willing to answer questions about the church, give directions around the building, and hospitably show interest in guests.

If you are interested in learning more about this team, please check the box below.

Individuals on this team read our sermon text during the service they attend. We have one reader per service on a Sunday. We welcome men, women, and teens to consider reading God's word over our people. Before being placed on this team, we would like to hear you reading scripture aloud to see what coaching we may be able to provide so that the reading of scripture is not a distraction during the service.

This position is one where you could serve on multiple teams because it takes place during the service. If you are interested in learning more about this team, please check the box below

This team exists to help keep our attendees safe by being the active eyes and ears of safety. This team is trained to be on the look out for any dangers, including medical, and how to respond (i.e. calling the proper authorities). This team may step in to prayerfully have a conversation with someone disrupting a service. There are many volunteers scheduled each week and they serve on a rotation of about once per month.

This team exists to serve all who come forward communion at the end of the service. Volunteers should be professing Christians. We schedule five servers per service (four up front and one in the back with the basket).

This position is one where you could serve on multiple teams because it takes place during the service. If you are interested in learning more about this team, please check the box below.

We would like to begin a new in-service prayer team. This group would stand in a designated area during singing before and after the sermon, available to pray with anyone who comes forward. We have not started this team yet, but it will be very hospitable to our guests to know a specific location they could go to receive prayer, rather than walking up to the preacher after the service. All team members would receive a training on some of the best tips of how to pray for someone in this situation. We would like to schedule two people per service.

This position is one where you could serve on multiple teams because it takes place during the service. If you are interested in learning more about this team, please check the box below.

We have many roles within our worship team. Some take prior skill and knowledge, while others anyone can be trained on how to be successful. These roles serve during both services when they are scheduled and rotations vary by role. Musician roles may require a rehearsal and training.

Please indicate any of the positions that you may be interested in learning more about.

Other Serving Opportunities

These opportunities are outside of our regular Sunday gatherings. While it may still fall on a Sunday, typically these roles may be during a different day of the week (i.e. student ministry on Wednesdays).

Student DNA mentors serve weekly on Wednesday Nights, but attempt to connect with students in their DNAs on-going. During the Wednesday night gatherings, mentors will build relationships and guide discussions among students of their own gender (women w/ teen girls, men w/ teen boys).

If you are interested in learning more about this team, please check the box below.

We may have various facility projects that we have a team who steps up to help us take care of (i.e. shoveling snow, work day to clear out a cluttered area, etc).

This is a role in which you can easily serve on multiple teams because our opportunities and needs are less frequent. If you are interested in learning more about this team, please check the box below.

Our Crossing Communities are a small group of men and women who are practicing the way of Jesus together in NEA. Our Crossing Community Leaders serve by opening their homes for an CC to gather in regularly, as well as take on some responsibility towards leading/delegating the various roles within a CC (sermon discussion leading, mission leadership, meal leadership, etc). Typically Crossing Communities meet at some time on a Sunday (although that's not a requirement).

We’re excited that you want to serve! To help us place you in a role where you’ll thrive, we ask each volunteer to take a short Culture Index survey. This helps us understand your strengths and how you best contribute to a team.
